PSAT/NMSQT & ASVAB
PURPOSE
- THE PSAT familiarizes students with the format, structure, and content of the SAT, helping them prepare for the official college entrance exam.

The PSAT/NMSQT is the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Program.

The ASVAB helps identify individuals with the aptitude for different military jobs and determines if they meet the minimum qualifications for enlistment.
Who Takes It
- The PSAT is primarily taken by sophomores.
- The PSAT/NMSQT is usually taken by juniors in the fall.
- The ASVAB is administered to students in grades 10-12, military applicants, and those interested in career exploration

PURPOSE
- SAT is an aptitude test designed to assess skills needed for college success.
- ACT is a standardized achievement test to evaluate students’ academic readiness for higher education.

- SAT: High School Juniors and Seniors
- ACT: High School Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors
