Elementary Instruction offers course syllabi for language arts, reading, mathematics, science, and social studies for grades Kindergarten through fifth grade to ensure the delivery of a consistent curriculum from school to school and teacher to teacher. Needs Based Instruction (NBI) provides a daily opportunity to engage in extra study in a core area. This period provides each academic team the opportunity to remediate and enrich the academic experiences of students as needed. Benchmark assessments, done through the Georgia Online Assessment System , to help to identify student needs, target instruction, and guide remediation.  Additionally, the department plans, coordinates and conducts a variety of teacher training activities throughout the year. Teacher training ensures that students are taught with best teaching practices that maximize learning. District-wide instructional delivery and trends in student progress are monitored, assessed, improved upon and shared with school leadership teams through the elementary department.
