Adequate Yearly Progress
All Fannin County Schools made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for the 2010-2011 school year.

The Georgia Department of Education recently released the preliminary Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) determinations for all public schools in Georgia.  AYP is one of the cornerstones of the federal No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), which is now known as the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) of 1965.

AYP is an annual measure of student participation and achievement on statewide assessments and other academic indicators.  It requires all schools to meet standards in three areas:  Test participation and academic performance (in Mathematics and English/Language Arts), as well as a second indicator.  At the elementary and middle schools, the second indicator is attendance.  At the high school, it is the graduation rate.  Fannin County High School utilizes the Georgia High School Graduation Test (GHSGT) to measure academic performance, and the elementary and middle schools use the Georgia CRCT.

What is Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP)?

AYP is one of the cornerstones of the federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. It is a measure of year-to-year student achievement on statewide assessments.
